Welcome to ‘Keep the Memories Alive’ a unique initiative launched by Leger Holidays to ensure that personal memories from the Second World War are never lost or forgotten.
The UK’s children are key to ensuring that memories and personal stories from WW2 are kept alive but shocking new research by Leger Holidays has found that:
- 22% of under-16s don’t know if their family members were involved in WW2
- 13% of children learn about WW2 from films or computer games
- 27% of children under-16 aren’t bothered if stories about their family’s war experiences are forgotten
- 13% of under-16s think World War Three has happened
Keep the Memories Alive is aimed at inspiring children and young adults in the UK to speak to their own family members about how the Second World War affected them.
The campaign has been launched to commemorate this year’s 65th anniversary of the D Day landings but is designed to be a resource for all UK veterans and their friends and families for years to come.
This website is a place for families to upload their World War Two stories and memories so that they are stored and remembered for future generations. It is also a place for veterans to volunteer their services as an educational tool, to speak to the media, schools or community groups about their experiences.
